•    Lead Biophotonics Team: Guide a small team of scientists in the development and application of biophotonics technologies, including Multiphoton Microscopy (MPM), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Reflectance Confocal Microscopy (RCM), Photoacoustic Imaging (PAI), and more.

 •    Design and Execute Research: Design and conduct studies to evaluate the efficacy of skin and scalp care treatments using these technologies. Analyze data and interpret results to draw meaningful conclusions.

•    Collaboration with Internal Teams: Partner closely with skin and scalp care research teams to understand their needs and provide tailored biophotonics solutions. Translate complex technical information into accessible insights for non-specialist audiences.

 •    Method Development & Validation: Develop and validate new biophotonics methods for assessing skin and scalp condition, including image analysis protocols and data interpretation techniques.

•    External Collaboration & Scouting: Actively identify and pursue collaboration opportunities with external partners (academic institutions, biotech companies, technology providers). Negotiate and manage collaborative research agreements.

•    Establish External Studies: Design and initiate studies with external collaborators to expand the scope of biophotonics research and access specialized expertise or equipment.

•    Technology Monitoring & Integration: Stay current with the latest advancements in biophotonics and related fields. Evaluate and integrate promising new technologies into L'Oréal's research programs.

•    Mentorship & Development: Mentor and develop junior scientists within the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing research environment.

•    Communication & Dissemination: Prepare and present research findings at internal and external scientific meetings, conferences, and workshops. Contribute to peer-reviewed publications and patent applications.

•    Laboratory Management: Oversee the biophotonics laboratory, including equipment maintenance, procurement, and budget management. Qualifications:

•    Ph.D. in Physics, Biophysics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.

•    Proven experience in the development and application of biophotonics technologies (MPM, OCT, RCM, and/or PAI), preferably with experience in skin or biological tissue research.

 •    Strong knowledge foundation in skin biology and physiology.

•    Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing a research team.

 •    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.

•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and effectively collaborate with scientists from diverse backgrounds.

•    Experience in establishing and managing external collaborations.

•    Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. Preferred Qualifications:

•    Prior experience in the cosmetics or personal care industry.

•    Experience with image analysis software and programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB).

•    Track record of successful grant writing and/or securing research funding.

•    Publication of research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
