Responsibilities:MATERIALS INNOVATION PROJECT LEADER — You own end-to-end projects on innovative materials and technologies (aluminum, paper, glass, alternative plastics), coordinating complex ecosystems of internal and external partners.
INNOVATION SIGNAL REPORTING — You continuously feed PSC, working with Master Scientists, to evaluate the potential of innovations you capture through your network, scouting activities and field interactions — making you a true opportunity sensor for the group.
TECHNOLOGY TECHNICAL VALIDATION — You study new technologies available on the market, design appropriate validation protocols, and deliver reliable technical assessments of their maturity and potential.
APPLICATION RECOMMENDATIONS — Your work results in clear, actionable recommendations: which technology, for which use case at L'Oréal, on what timeline, and with what level of risk.
THE SKILLS THAT YOU WILL NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Education or proven experience in materials science and/or chemistry, with knowledge spanning multiple material families (metals, paper/cellulose, glass) — a multi-materials mindset is key.
- A first experience in project management / innovation.
- Strong scientific curiosity – love to understand how things work, evaluate new technologies critically, and not afraid to test and develop yourself!
- Project management – able to structure and drive innovation projects from scouting to deployment.
- Curiosity and Inventiveness.
- Interest in sustainability & sustainable packaging.
- Rigor and scientific data driven approach for problem solving.
- Chinese native speaker - ability to discuss with suppliers and manage projects with Chinese suppliers.
- English – ability to discuss with teams and foreigner suppliers and manage projects.
- Communication – Ability to communicate complex scientific topics to non-expert audience, being able to motivate people to lead successfully your project until the end.
