Summary:

The Analytical Product Owner (APO) is a critical role bridging the gap between business needs and data solutions. The APO will be responsible for both curating and maintaining core data assets and collaborating with Business to design and deliver analytical products that drive business value. This involves understanding business requirements, translating them into analytical specifications, prioritizing development efforts, and ensuring the quality and usability of delivered solutions. The APO is the role for data-driven decision-making and will also play a key role in fostering a data-centric culture within the organization.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Product Vision & Strategy:
    • Define and champion the product vision, value proposition, and roadmap in close collaboration with business stakeholders.
    • Clearly communicate the product vision, strategy, and priorities to the product team, business leads, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Product Backlog Management & Refinement:
    • Define and manage the roadmap for shared data sets, prioritizing based on use case needs in collaboration with business and the data delivery team. Ensure the data model remains agnostic to specific use cases.
    • Specify and document governed Business Objects to prepare data for use cases.
    • Translate the product vision into actionable user stories, features, and specifications, creating and maintaining a prioritized product backlog.
    • Continuously groom and refine the backlog, ensuring it reflects evolving business needs and priorities.
  • Sprint Planning & Execution:
    • Collaborate with the product team on sprint planning, providing context and clarity on user stories and acceptance criteria.
    • Review sprint deliverables and provide feedback, ensuring alignment with the product vision and maximizing value delivery.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication:

Regularly demo product increments to stakeholders, gathering feedback and incorporating it into the product backlog.

Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to identify and prioritize features that maximize product ROI.

  • Performance Measurement & Reporting:

Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product efficiency, quality, and business value.

Regularly report on product performance, highlighting key trends, successes, and areas for improvement.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Familiarity with statistical programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus.
  • Project Management:
    • Strong Agile project management experience.
    • Proven ability to manage and prioritize competing demands.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Analytics).
  • 7+ years of experience in data management, business intelligence, or analytics.
  • Proven track record of delivering data-driven solutions.
  • Experience with product ownership methodologies and frameworks.
