Key Job Accountabilities:

  • Develop and bring to market, in collaboration with the brands and Development teams, high-quality, safe, and high-performing products, aligned with the Domain/brand innovation strategy and the Group’s sustainability commitments.
  • Own assigned projects and missions, ensuring complete, end-to-end delivery within the agreed timelines.
  • Lead and manage the China eye DA team to deliver key project milestones and consolidate team development plan with Senior Project Leader.
  • Work within project teams, taking on versatile roles and responsibilities according to project needs and project stage.
  • Clearly define ambitious project objectives; mobilize the right skills to build and manage the project team. Influence and persuade to secure buy-in from sponsors and stakeholders.
  • Build the formulation strategy based on patents, publications, and the technical state of the art, and mobilize the right experts for this purpose.
  • Validate consumer insights, assess the competitive landscape and the technical state of the art, and conduct literature reviews.
  • Plan projects and experiments, manage timelines, assess risks, and implement mitigation actions.
  • Analyze results, ensure robust interpretation, and propose technical solutions to address project challenges.
  • Conduct laboratory trials; oversee scale-up, industrialization studies, and all testing (stability, safety/efficacy, and consumer); draft technical summaries and project status updates; and provide systematic reporting and/or presentations.
  • Build connections with related laboratories for technology sharing and collaboration; develop a network of technical partnerships capable of engaging with external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to safeguarding L’Oréal’s intellectual property (patent filing and protection, etc.).
  • Ensure compliance with all company and R&I rules and guidelines, e.g., safety rules and good laboratory practices.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional initiatives.

 

      Key Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. or Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field, with 10 years or more of laboratory and formulation experience, understanding of research activities and relevant scientific and technical applications. Experience in Eye makeup product development and people management is preferred.
  • Knowledge of makeup products, good sense of trends in the cosmetics industry and market dynamics.
  • Strong sense of responsibility, creativity, and collaboration.
  • Logical and precise communication skills.
  • Proficiency in summarizing, abstracting, and presenting information effectively.
  • Fluent in English and Chinese
