The Role As a Packaging Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and industrialization of innovative packaging solutions. You will work at the intersection of marketing, R&I (Research & Innovation), and operations to deliver products that offer a superior consumer experience while meeting our ambitious environmental targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Development & Innovation:
- Manage the development of new packaging from initial brief to industrial launch.
- Design and engineer technical solutions for primary and secondary packaging.
- Ensure the technical feasibility of projects while respecting brand aesthetics and cost constraints.
- Sustainability & "L'Oréal for the Future":
- Lead the transition toward more sustainable packaging (Reduce, Replace, Recycle, Reuse).
- Analyze environmental impact of new launches.
- Sustainably source materials, focusing on PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) plastics.
- Quality & Performance:
- Define technical specifications and ensure all packaging meets L'Oréal’s rigorous quality and safety standards.
- Conduct packaging conception validations including compatibility tests and line feasibility.
- Troubleshoot technical issues during the industrialization phase at the factories.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with Product development team and Marketing to understand consumer insights and translate them into technical briefs.
- Partner with Procurement and Suppliers to identify new technologies and optimize costs.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain and Manufacturing to ensure seamless integration on production lines.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience: at least 3 years of experience in packaging development, preferably in the FMCG, Cosmetics, or Food industries.
- Technical Skills:
- Can read technical drawings.
- Deep knowledge of materials (plastics, glass, paper/cardboard, metals) and transformation processes (injection molding, blow molding, etc.).
- Understanding of printing and finishing techniques.
- Soft Skills:
- Entrepreneurial Spirit: A "test and learn" mindset with a drive for innovation.
- Learning ability: good technical sense and logical thinking, quick learner
- Communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders (Marketing, Management).
